QUALITY OF LIFE
Inspector’s findings:
During the inspection time was spent in the baby room, the toddler room and also the pre-school room. Children in all groups were observed as being happy and at ease with the staff responsible for them and according to staff members they work with their preferred age range of children. Some staff members are bi-lingual (Welsh/English).
Theme plans continue to include experiences from the six areas of learning and the ACCAC desirable outcomes for children’s learning before compulsory school age. Throughout the day children experienced small and large group activities, quiet play and boisterous play and time was also made to ensure the children received individual attention.
All play equipment and toys seen were of high quality and in very good condition. The baby room is bright and welcoming, with the babies being cared for by three consistent members of staff. The activities, toys and equipment in the baby room are appropriate to the age and developmental stage of the babies. All equipment and toys observed is of a good standard. Staff were observed as enjoying their work and presented as being very fond of babies and also ‘tuned in’ to each child’s routine, likes and dislikes. The babies received stimulation and individual attention according to their needs. The sleep room enables babies to have undisturbed sleep, the lighting in the room ensuring a restful aura.
The play activities observed within the toddlers room provided children with opportunities to develop their emotional, physical, social, creative and intellectual skills. Quiet activities were alternated with more boisterous activities, ensuring a range of activities throughout the day. The staff in this unit also were observed as enjoying their work and listened to and respected the children in their care. Children were encouraged and praised.

Children were listened to and respected and praised and encouraged with their various activities. Weather permitting, outdoor play is encouraged and the children were observed playing outside on the day of the Inspection.
